Is Wisconsin keeping up or falling behind when it comes to fueling innovation? Venture capital investments in Wisconsin startups hit record highs a few years ago but have seen ups and downs since then. While the state’s VC ecosystem has matured, it still trails behind other Midwestern states and lags far behind the coasts when it comes to the total dollars invested and deal flow. The good news: Badger Fund of Funds and a stronger pipeline of early-stage companies are helping broaden opportunities for founders. But as interest rates shift and competition for deals heats up, questions remain about how to attract and retain capital–and how Wisconsin can better support the next generation of entrepreneurs. ??
