关于我们

Since its start in 2002, Chicago Innovation (formerly Chicago Innovation Awards) has grown from a single award ceremony to a year-long series of events and activities designed to celebrate innovation in the Chicago region, educate people and organizations about the principles of innovation, and forge relationships that strengthen companies, grow the economy, and create jobs. Its expansion has included formation of the Chicago Innovation Women Mentoring Co-op to support female innovators, a Corporate Startup Matchmaking program to connect large corporations with emerging start-ups, the Winners Connection to promote past Chicago Innovation Award winners year-round, an Innovation MBA in partnership with IIT that offers real-world experiential learning and $10,000 scholarships, the Chicago Neighborhood Awards to promote innovation in Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods, and the Chicago Student Invention Convention to empower Chicago’s youth to be innovators. The Chicago Innovation Awards shine a bright light on the creative spirit of Chicago by focusing attention on the most significant new products and services introduced in the region. The winners each year are innovations that uniquely fill unmet needs, spark a competitive response in the marketplace, exceed market expectations, achieve financial success, and improve people’s lives. They emerge from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Most importantly, the Chicago Innovation Awards remind us that innovation is thriving in America’s heartland.

  • From a single fridge to a nationwide food movement, Farmer's Fridge is delivering fresh, high-quality meals through intentional product design—setting a new standard for convenience, nutrition, and innovation in the food industry! We’re proud to celebrate Chicago Innovation Board Member Luke Saunders, founder and CEO of Farmer’s Fridge, for this milestone in innovation and growth, as featured in Crain’s Chicago Business. What started in 2013 as Saunders’ vision to make healthy food “as accessible as a candy bar” (Crain’s Chicago Business) has grown into a nationwide movement. Farmer’s Fridge now reaches over 2,000 locations in corporate offices, hospitals, universities, retail stores, and—most recently—aboard Delta Airlines flights, bringing nutritious selections to new heights! With plans to expand by 4,500 additional locations in the next three years, Farmer’s Fridge is reshaping how we think about food accessibility while showing how innovation rooted in Chicago can grow with intention and impact. By managing operations from sourcing to delivery out of its Chicago-based facility, the company has tripled revenue, added over 500 jobs, and built a model that brings ready-to-go, chef-crafted cuisine from the Midwest to both coasts in under 36 hours. ?? Congratulations to Luke and the entire Farmer’s Fridge team for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in food innovation—and for showing how growth, grounded in purpose, can deliver real value to both consumers and communities across the country. ?? • This week we gathered to celebrate five extraordinary leaders—and the community driving progress for women in innovation. Held at Gannon Concert Hall at DePaul University with partners including the Women's Business Development Center (WBDC), The Chicago Network, and ARA Mentors, the evening was filled with recognition, storytelling, and a shared commitment to not just who can lead in our industries, but who should. Ahead of the panel, guests explored a dynamic Networking Expo featuring women-focused business resource providers, sharing insights, opportunities, and support for every stage of the innovation journey. Our honorees shared candid reflections on their journeys—speaking to the power of mentorship, the importance of building inclusive cultures, and how they’re redefining what it means to lead as women in their industries. A standout moment of the evening came from Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton, whose passionate remarks reinforced the vital role of women-led businesses and the ongoing pursuit of equity in leadership across Illinois! To our awardees, partners, and every attendee: thank you for being part of a growing movement to honor women in the innovation community and their strides in equity and entrepreneurship. Featured: ??
