There’s something a little bittersweet about someone else pitching your book better than you do ?? But Giannis Polyzos absolutely nails it in this post about Architecting an Apache Iceberg Lakehouse by Alex Merced. Couldn’t resist sharing.
Weekend on the beach ??? and finally found some time to get my hands on some books. With all the ?? it’s refreshing to have some ?? As an architect around #streaming systems, and working heavily with #ApacheFlink, I see how #ApacheIceberg plays a crucial role for the cold data and its nice to see how other professionals approach #architecting on the #Lakehouse. Today I’m wrapping up the first MEAP edition of Architecting an Apache Iceberg Lakehouse. Big kudos to Alex Merced for the great work and effort he has put into this book. There are lots of resources available around Apache Iceberg, but this book fills in an important missing piece… The Overal Architecture and how different components and layers come together for production use… If you are starting with Iceberg and want to better understand how to create a production setup, it’s definitely worth the read. Currently there is also lots of work taking place on Apache Fluss (Incubating) that comes in the next release around the Iceberg integration. And this integration aims to solve some painpoints Apache Iceberg users come across when dealing with #streaming data: ? Data freshness issues ? The updates issues, as Fluss on the hot layer takes care of all the updates ? Build-in compaction service in the open-source Thanks once more to Manning publications and Jonathan Gennick for helping put together another great book! Grab your copy now; link in the comments ??
