Today, MoveOn announces that Katie Bethell, a nationally recognized advocate for working families, is joining the organization as its next executive director! Bethell joins MoveOn Civic Action and MoveOn Political Action after decades of experience as a leader in the progressive movement, notably through her time at WorkMoney, Paid Leave for the United States (PL+US), Change.org, and MomsRising. MoveOn welcomes the people-first champion taking the helm at a time when President Trump and the Republican Party are making food and medicine more expensive, cutting public school funds and undermining economic stability for families to benefit billionaires.

Launched in 1998, MoveOn pioneered online organizing and advocacy techniques that have become standard in politics, nonprofits, and industry in the U.S. and worldwide. Millions of Americans rely on Medicaid to live – and Trump, Musk, and Republicans in Congress want to cut it to fund tax cuts for billionaires. ???????? ???? ????????????????? Medicaid is a state and federal program that funds health care for more than 70 million Americans. ???????’?? 1 ???? 5 ??????????????????. This includes disabled people, older adults, children living in poverty, and families caring for loved ones. ???????????????? ?????????? ???????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????? ??????????. It is a lifeline for aging and disability care in homes and nursing facilities. It pays for ???????????? ??????? ???? ?????? ???????????????? ???????????. And it helps keep rural hospitals open and operating. Many Americans don’t even realize they have Medicaid, as it’s under a different name in each state. Without Medicaid, more people will be forced to go without necessary care until they reach a breaking point and need to receive care in emergency rooms. Americans would get sicker, and hospitals would become overburdened. 70% ???? ?????????????????? ???????? ????????????????. But Trump and Republicans want to take health care away from working people to pay for additional tax cuts for billionaires and huge corporations. You’ll hear Trump and Republicans hide behind bureaucratic jargon: ?????????? ????????????? = Giving each state a set amount of Medicaid funds, instead of matching the costs. This would force states to reduce benefits and strain state budgets. ???????? ???????????????????????? = Make recipients jump through hoops and prove their work status. This would take away care from the disabled, the elderly, and family caregivers. ???????????????? ???????? = Each American would have a price limit on their health care – essentially ending care for millions of Americans who need it most. But it’s all just a fancy way for Trump and Republicans to say they want to cut Medicaid and take away health care from millions of people so they can give tax breaks to the rich. Trump promised to help everyday Americans with their everyday costs. Unsurprisingly, his first weeks in office have established that his policies will do no such thing. He has started trade wars with America’s three biggest trading partners that will affect virtually everything Americans buy and consume.
