    What separates reactive leaders from transformational ones? ?? Last week, working with Baker Hughes' "Level Up" program participants, we dove deep into the Leadership Circle's #UniversalModelofLeadership —and discovered some game-changing insights: ?????? ?????????????? ??????????:?Leadership effectiveness isn't just nice-to-have—it's a major lever that drives business outcomes. ?????? ???????????????? ????????: Many leaders (myself included) naturally default to "How do I stay safe?" This triggers our compliance, protection, and/or control modes. Natural? Yes. Effective? Not really. ?????? ???????????????????????? ????????????????: High-impact leaders ask something completely different: "What do I want to CREATE?" Try it out on what you are working on right now. ?????? ?????????????????? ????????: It all comes down to identity. How do you see yourself (or do you WANT to see yourself) as a leader? Can you consciously expand that identity? The participants' insights were remarkable and I look forward to hearing about and supporting their application of the above.     I just finished catching up with a webinar from Leadership Circle done back in May (yeah, way behind!), hosted by Amy Felix-Reese, Aaronde Seckou Creighton, PCC, and Renelle Everett Darr. They were talking about the ???????????????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ???????????????????? of Leadership Circle framework and an interesting discussion came about: ?????? ?????????? ???????????? ???? ???????? ????????????. ???? ???????? ???? ?????? ???? ???????? ??????’???? ???????????????? ???? ???????? ???? ????????????? We talk a lot about vision in leadership and companies. We write vision statements. We put them on posters, in websites, and we expect leaders to embrace them and get teams behind it. ?????? ????????’?? ?????? ??????????:: Most leaders, I’d say 99% (?), ?????????????? ?? ????????????. They weren’t in the room when it was written. They didn’t get to shape it. But they’re expected to lead others through it. ???????? ?????????? ???? ???? ???????????????? ???????? ???????? ???? ???????? ???????? ????????????????? This post isn’t about “how to craft a great vision.” It’s about what to do when the vision already exists... and you’re asked to make it yours. Because ?????????????????? ?????????????????????(as the Leadership Circle Profile shows) is one of the highest-impact leadership competencies. But it doesn’t work if you’re leading from ???????????????????? instead of ????????????????????. Below are a few ideas and tips for leaders on how to make an “inherited vision” part of your leadership.     One comment I hear time and again is, “They got promoted because they’re technically brilliant and/or have been here a long time, but they’re not a good manager.” It’s a common scenario: someone excels in their role, shows commitment and earns the next logical step. A management position. But leading people isn’t the same as being a great subject matter expert. It requires a completely different skill set: emotional intelligence, communication, coaching others, navigating team dynamics, building trust, building resourceful networks, authenticity, systemic thinking. Oh, and delivering through others. Without support or development, these new managers can feel out of their depth. And teams feel the impact. Leadership isn’t just a promotion. It’s a mindset shift.
